Touring the North WestDrive along the Playford Highway, through Parndana all the way to Cape Borda. Ranger guided tours of the light station are available, and on the 12:30 tour, there is the added bonus of the cannon firing. There are some great walks around Cape Borda also. Other things to do in the region are: Easy: drive to Scott's Cove, where you park at the top of a magnificent sea cliff, with spectacular views across to Cape Torrens, the highest sea cliffs in South Australia. Harder: stop at Harvey's Return and walk down the track to the cove where the supplies for the light-house keepers were unloaded from ships in the old days prior to the road being built. Hardest: drive down the track to the Ravine des Casoars, then walk the path to the Ravine beach. This walk is about 2 hours each way, so take water and your lunch, and also torches. When you get to the beach, walk to the cliff overhang to the north and you will fing a magnificent cave, hence the need for the torches. Return to Kingscote via the Playford Highway. |
